Wireless Charging: Say hello to a simple life

Wireless Charging: Say hello to a simple life

Wireless chargers are gaining more and more popularity with the convenience and hassle-free charging they provide. It is charging simplified without the need to plug a charging cable directly into the device you wish to charge. You might be thinking yes this is great and all, but what exactly is wireless charging? I'm glad you asked

What is Wireless Charging?

Wireless charging involves using the electromagnetic fields (magnets) from one device to create an electric current in the metal coil inside another device. Basically, when the power from a charging port via outlet/USB is transferred to your device without the need of a connecting cable from the charging port directly to the device. This current exchange is what charges/powers the battery, which requires a power transmitting pad and a receiver. There is a wireless charging standard of Qi, developed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) for inductive charging over distances less than/equal to 40 mm. This standard has been adopted by many major smartphone manufacturers like Samsung (Galaxy S6 and up), and Apple (iPhone 8 and up), and is also being incorporated in a growing number of vehicles.

What are the benefits of Wireless Charging?

Well the first most obvious one is the freedom of charging without wires. Like with the IMGadgets 2x fast Wireless Charger, you don't have to worry about cords getting worn or ends getting frayed due to overuse. It'll be a growing satisfaction and appreciation of the extended lifespan you'll get from a stationary charging pad instead of continuously dealing with pulling cords in and out each day.

It is also a safer way to transfer power to your phone, minimizing your chances of being exposed to electric shock from the cord. Charging is extremely easy by just placing your phone on the charging pad, which also puts less strain on the charging port of your phone. With its growing popularity, more places around the world are installing Qi wireless charging pads, which means if you're ever out and about and don't have your charger with you, you can still charge your phone.

While there are some disadvantages like the charging may be slower vs. with a direct cord-to-wall plug in, and not all phones are Qi enabled for wireless charging. In the end the positives do outweigh the negatives, but that's for you decide how much you would like to experience the freedom of a wireless charging lifestyle.
